IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Action required to maintain your access.

Beginning *Tuesday, 1/7/25* Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will now be enabled on the IJ Portal for External Users. MFA increases overall security by requiring an added measure of verification when you log in, in addition to your username and password.

To ensure a successfully migration the below tasks should be completed prior to 1/7/2025:

• Please test your ability to access https://new.ejustice.ny.gov. If you are unable to reach the site, please contact your manager and local IT Departments to allow the connection to the website.
• Review the MFA IJ Portal User Guide below that provides instructions with setting up their MFA method of choice (SMS, Voice Call, Google Authenticator App, OKTA Verify App or Browser Extension Utility).
• If External Users are unable to use a desk phone or mobile device for their MFA Option, please refer to the Browser Authenticator Utility Section in the user guide.

MFA IJ Portal User Guide

There are 5 available methods to provide this extra verification for IJ Portal External Users. One of these methods will be needed to log in after MFA is enabled. Setting up more is encouraged as a backup, to ensure continuity of access.

• SMS Authentication - Provides you a text message containing a single-use code for login.
• Voice Call Authentication - Calls you to audibly provide a single-use code for login.
• Google Authenticator app (IOS/Android) - App for mobile devices that provides a single-use codes for login.
• Okta Verify app (IOS/Android) – App for mobile devices that provides push notifications and single-use codes for login.
• Authenticator Extension Utility - Browser Extension Utility for MFA (Authenticator Extension Utility) to access the IJ Portal due their internal policies with not having a primary desk phone or mobile device.
